Either your pants shrank or your belly grew - whichever the reason, wearing loose shirts to cover up doesn’t need to be the answer. Good news is your belly is actually one of the easiest places to lose weight - the best way to do so? Eat!

Make sure the below foods are included in your diet to help you lose the bloat, naturally.

Berries, Cherries & Grapes
All of these foods share common plant chemicals called anthocyanins which burns abdominal fat. These treats are also full of antioxidants and fiber! Try topping your nonfat Greek yogurt with some mixed berries as well as nuts, cinnamon, honey, and a bit of vanilla extract for a delicious and healthy breakfast.

Dairy
Whey is a protein that supports the formation of lean body mass and can be found in foods like milk, yogurt, and cheese. Dairy also helps fill you up which will help increase overall weight loss. Try eating some cottage cheese, string cheese, or Greek yogurt. Swap sour cream in dips with Greek Yogurt as a healthier alternative.

Potassium
Instead of eating salty foods which will make you bloated, try eating more foods that are rich in potassium! While sodium brings water out of the cells, potassium brings it into the cells where it belongs. A few foods you can try are bananas, avocados, orange juice, and baked potatoes with the skin still on them.

Lean Protein
These foods take longer to digest than carbohydrates which means you will feel full for a longer amount of time. These proteins also help build muscle. Some foods to try out are skinless chicken breasts, turkey cutlets, egg whites, fish, and pork tenderloin.

Whole Grains
Whole grains contain magnesium and chromium which are both important nutrients to fight cortisol, which is a stress hormone that directs fat to be stored around your waist. They also keep down your insulin production. Try whole grain toast with one fried egg, a slice of smoked turkey, and chopped asparagus as an awesome healthy meal.

Make the effort to add these foods to your diet as well as your post cavi-lipo treatment efforts. Remember, cavi-lipo shouldn’t be a substitute for healthy living habits. By maintaining a healthy diet and exercise you can expect long-term results. Interested in what cavi-lipo can do for you? Are you a week or two shy of your next big event? If you aren’t looking and feeling your best just yet don’t worry, there’s still time.

Check out the below last minute fit tips that celebrity trainers advise their clients during a time crunch:

Exercise Daily - You’re down to the wire so it’s time to make every effort count! Short 20 minute workouts using medium weights or your own body weight are beneficial, as well as short, high-intensity routines. Interval training will help burn fat and adding a Pilates workout will help in defining your waist.

But Don’t Overdo it! - Listen to your body! Overexercising can actually have the opposite effect due to the added stress it’s going through. Your body reads stress as a signal to hold onto stored fat instead of releasing it into the bloodstream to be used as fuel to replenish muscles. Focus on the quality of your workouts and stick to shorter durations (as mentioned above).

Fuel Your Body Right - Eat food that will give your body the nutrients it needs to stay energized. Stick to lean proteins and fiber rich vegetables, and limit processed foods, alcohol, caffeine, sugar. Dark green, non-wilted, nutrient-dense vegetables are great in fueling your body while it’s losing pounds.

Don’t Eat Late - Give yourself time to burn off the day’s calories - avoid eating 3 hours prior to  bedtime. That said, make sure you are still eating enough throughout the day (plenty of protein, fiber, healthy fats, complex cards) so you aren't ravenous by nightfall.

Summertime and the livin’s easy! The days are longer, the weather is warmer, and it’s the perfect time to get together with friends for a scantily clad beach day - which is all the more reason to embark on a health kick to look and feel your best this season!

Not sure where to begin? We’ve got you covered:

Get active - Start filling up your time with activities that get you moving! Whether it’s going for a walk, joining a summer recreational sport league, or trying a new physical hobby (barre classes, rock climbing, kayaking, etc) - get yourself in the burning calories routine. Just make sure to listen to your body, hydrate well and get plenty of rest.

Focus on nutrition - No matter what your end goal is, just being active isn’t going to cut it. A proper diet plays a huge role in the efforts to getting and staying in shape. For example, making sure you have enough protein, carbs, and essential fats helps you tone up in a healthy way.

Don’t overdo it - Looking to shed some pounds? Don’t go overboard! Similar to what we said earlier, make sure you listen to your body vs. running it into the ground. You also may want to avoid stepping on the scale. Remember, the scale doesn’t reveal fat loss - you can step on the scale and see a lower number, but this could simply be from the loss of water weight. Additionally, since muscle is more dense than fat - the more you train, the number of the scale may increase, yet you’ll look thinner.

Set realistic goals - Whether you are just looking to get in shape or lose weight, develop a plan for yourself with realistic expectations. “I want to lose 10 pounds in 10 days,” is not an attainable(or healthy) goal. Rather, aim to lose half a pound to two pounds per week. If training for a marathon, give yourself a timeline leading up to it listing out the number of miles you need to cross off each week.

Looking for another solution to get in shape? Consider Cavi-Lipo, offered here at Tropicalaser! Cavi-Lipo is especially ideal for 2 types of people: those that are already following a healthy diet and lifestyle and want to remove localized pockets of fat or drop body fat % OR those who want to use the Cavi-Lipo and the recommended lifestyle protocol to “jump start” their slimming efforts as motivation for maintaining a healthier and slimmer lifestyle. If either of these people sound like you, give us a call at (516) 307-1543 to schedule your FREE consultation with an experienced Tropicalaser practitioner.

Cellulite, not everyone’s favorite topic of conversation but many of us have it to some capacity. As fat cells accumulate and expand under the skin, they push against tissue causing an uneven and perhaps unsightly bumpy appearance.

Though its exact causes are unknown, diet and lifestyle factors do play a role in reducing and combating cellulite. So instead of avoiding clingy clothing and bikinis this season, start by munching your way to a smoother you with these foods known to fight cellulite:

  • Salmon - Here’s one healthy catch! This antioxidant rich fish helps break down fat cells in cellulite and its omega-3 fatty acids work to reduce appetite and lower inflammation.
  • Dark Berries - Improve your skin’s tone and texture! To enhance collagen production and create new skin tissue, add some blackberries and blueberries to your diet. Plus, since they are equally rich in antioxidants, they break down fat attached to the connective tissue.
  • Apple Cider Vinegar - The wonder elixir. Not only is ACV great for mixing into salad dressing but adding this to a cup of water with lemon in the morning is a great boost to your metabolism while flushing out toxins! Flushing toxins helps to detox your liver and rebalance estrogen production - which contributes to reducing or reversing cellulite.
  • Hummus - A popular low-glycemic spread. This food only puts a small amount of glucose into the blood, causing a minimum insulin release. Since insulin is a fat storage hormone - eating low-glycemic foods prevent fat cells from expanding and forming cellulite!

While these foods are great ways to jumpstart your dream bod - there’s nothing wrong with opting for a quicker solution before summer begins. Enter Cavi-Lipo: a non-surgical treatment option offered here at Tropicalaser. Ideal for removing localized pockets of fat and kickstarting slimming efforts so you can be the best you this summer!

A toned, flat stomach is a goal for many prior to bathing suit season - but endless crunches and going cold turkey on your favorite foods isn’t the right, or fun, way to do it. Check out these tips below for some ways to eliminate that hard-to-reach ab flab:

  1. Make time for cardio - Studies show aerobic exercise is the most effective in burning visceral belly fat.
  2. Fiber is your friend - For every 10 grams of fiber consumed daily, your belly will carry almost 4% less fat.
  3. Ditch the pretzels - Too much salt makes you retain more fluid, more fluid contributes to a puffy appearance and extra water weight.
  4. Try a new hobby - Kayaking for example is an exhilarating, ab crunching workout. Constant paddling requires lots of twisting and tightness from your abs. Bonus, Long Island provides many kayaking facilities!
  5. Practice proper technique - When weight training, concentrate on keeping your abs tight and maintaining good posture while you lift - but don’t forget to breathe!

An overall healthy lifestyle is always the number one solution, but pairing it with a non surgical treatment option like cavi-lipo can help to maximize results! Don’t let insecurities hold you back from enjoying the sun, schedule a cavi-lipo consultation today.

We service Garden City, Great Neck, and surrounding areas. Give us a call at (516) 307-1543 to schedule your FREE consultation with an experienced Tropicalaser practitioner.

As you probably already know, eating a balanced diet is key for optimal health. Certain foods are great for oral hygiene while others can help beat chronic conditions like heart disease. There’s also a number of specific skin treats to give a boost of glowing good health to your complexion:

Foods with high antioxidant content: Blackberries, blueberries, strawberries, and plums are all fruits with the highest “total antioxidant capacity.” Antioxidants and other phytochemicals work to defend the skin against free radicals (like the kind formed from sun exposure). When you help protect skin cells from free radical damage, you also guard against premature aging.

Foods that deliver essential fatty acids: Essential fatty acids (like omega 3 and omega 6) are key for healthy cell membranes. Not only do cell membranes act as a barrier for harmful things but also a passageway to allow nutrients and waste to move in and out of the cell. They work to hold in water, so the stronger that barrier is the better your cells will hold moisture leaving you with plumber, younger looking skins. Foods include: salmon, walnuts, canola oil, and flax seed.

Green Tea: A study published in the Archives of Dermatology shows that whether taken orally or applied to the skin, green tea can reduce the risk of damage from the sun’s UV rays, thus reducing the risk of skin cancer. This wonder drink also has anti-inflammatory properties for overall skin health.

Herbs: According to a study in the International Journal of Epidemiology, consuming four or more herbs regularly (rosemary or thyme for ecample) was associated with up to a 60% reduced risk of melanoma. http://www.prevention.com/beauty/natural-beauty/25-best-foods-your-skin/rosemary

At Tropicalaser, we know the power certain foods have on skin health and have incorporated these beneficial ingredients into our facials. A facial is one of the best ways to take care of your skin, especially when it's given by an experienced, knowledgeable esthetician. Give us a call to discuss your options today!

Cavi-Lipo is the newest technology in noninvasive liposuction. This treatment takes just 30 minutes and is great for people who want fat reduction, cellulite reduction and skin tightening all in one treatment.

But cavi-lipo shouldn’t be a substitute for healthy living habits. By maintaining a healthy diet and exercise you can expect long-term results. Below, we have some tips for our cavi-lipo patients for maintaining their post treatment look:

Stay hydrated - During and post cavi-lipo treatments, it is strongly recommended that you commit to and follow the treatment protocol: stay hydrated, 8-10 glasses of water a day. Water helps to boost your metabolism and cleanse your body of waste - plus acts as an appetite suppressant. If this is a serious change for you (and you think water is to boring), try adding a slice of lemon. This way you have a hint of flavor from a citrus fruit known to reduce cravings.

Eat properly - Choose low-carb, real food. Choosing a low carbohydrate diet minimizes sugars and starchs, and instead replaces them with foods that are rich in protein and healthy fats. Real food refers to any types of food that humans have had access to throughout evolution.

Exercise regularly - This goes without saying, but regular exercise should be part of your routine. Even just 30 minutes of aerobic activity (walking, jogging, biking, swimming) daily can improve your overall health. This kind of regular exercise will keep muscles toned and skin looking smooth and firm.

If either of these people sound like you, be sure to give the experts at Tropicalaser a call.
